This 2 days together is an opportunity, to reconnect to the tacit accord between heart and hands.. to focus our attention in a light.. playful.. and nourishing way. Through the slow gentle rhythm of our needle and thread upon cloth and stitch.. we naturally move into a place of calm.. becoming the witness to our creative enlivement. Our parasympathetic nervous system has the opportunity to quieten and reset.. stillness becomes us.. as we breathe out.. and begin to breathe in the love that emerges for our work. Insights.. reflections.. and the intentions we evoke, pour onto the cloth.. slowly bringing it to life with the intelligence of repetition.. to reveal a subtle, or perhaps a rich surface layer.. an imprint of our temperament, our longing.. and our fulfilment.
What you will learn
We will utilise small pieces of Linen.. Silk Organza.. & Pongee Silk from Tricias collection. This will be paired with stranded embroidery thread, for its universal traditional qualities and accessibility. There will also be an opportunity to sample Trish‘s signature ripped-silk technique, a rapid organic method for creating lush, rich painterly surfaces. Trish will prepare a curated palette of painted silk organza.. linens and silks for you to work with. Whilst Trish‘s workshops, engage with the simplest of techniques and often repetition of a single mark or line.. they’re not to be underestimated for their power in symbolic gesture. You will leave with an open book of possibilities for garment and interior textile applications or an array of inspiration for your chosen medium.. to fuel your creative fire.
This is not an outcome based workshop. It is a one-stitch-at-a-time exploration & enquiry.. a wondering & listening.. to the whispers inside. We will be working with 1 to 3 small swatch samples all of which will have the potential to be considered a small work, or piece of ”Jewellery”.. or a sample for embellishment applications.
For those of you who have participated in Tricia’s workshops previously, please note, these workshops are a continuum. Whether this is your first.. or your fifth.. all time spent with Tricia is an opportunity to either build on your past explorations and enter your making anew.. or to give yourself the gift of sinking deeply into the creative thread, wrought between hands.. and cloth..

Materials
Trish will provide embroidery threads.. silk.. and linen swatches. Needles and scissors will also be available.. however ..please bring your favourite kit of threads.. needles and scissors should you have them..
and equally.. your most beloved Fabric scraps.
