Sewing Seeds of Change will explore the rich surface that stitch and the embroidery tradition offers in a contemporary context.. all the while using intention and the act of our stitch process as a potent tool to engage our inner dialogue. Anchoring our alertness through the practice of repetition and the passing of needle & thread through our layers of cloth.. opens us up to our receptivity and intuition. Through mindful presence.. we can release that which needs to be set free.. while laying down the threads and seeds of new possibilities to come.
Playing in the field of the small and the intricate will afford us the capacity to move between a few works over these two days together. Whilst this workshop will focus on the soothing.. textural layering of these delicate pieces.. it will also extend an opportunity to embark on the power of setting intentions. We will stitch in an atmosphere of prayerful relationship to self.. held by the support that comes with gathering together.. united in our shared vision to dream-in the new. Stranded embroidery thread will be our featured material for it's universal traditional qualities and accessibility. There will also be an opportunity to sample Tricia’s signature ripped-silk technique..to create rich, lush surfaces that only the embroidered stitched surface can offer.
We will engage with our work and it’s intimate offerings.. with a whispering of the heart guiding us all the way.. as we set our intentions free within the careful boundaries of the small work. Stitching to extend your exploration and experimentation will ensure your inspiration is topped up for future endeavours at home and into the future.. each playful enquiry leading to the next. The snow ball of the creative process will build a place of solace within your realm.. a place to revisit again and again..
This time.. this exploration and play.. will give you an opportunity to consider the “brooch” the “painting”.. and with a little imagination.. inspiration for your deep meditation of life as you discover the many, many forms that will come
as you continue your practice as an ongoing daily.. weekly.. or more occasional ritual.
Whilst Tricia’s workshops engage with the simplest of techniques and often repetition of a single mark or line.. they are not to be underestimated for their power in symbolic gesture. Colour.. pattern.. motif.. when combined with the power of intention can reveal surprising insights.. You will leave with an open book of possibilities and inspiration to fuel your creative fire..
Please note this workshop is not product outcome based ..it is vital that you abandon all notions of finishing with a product if you are to embrace the full benefit of this immersion..
